CLF NEWS:2010 Crochet Awards Nominees for Best Designer, Free Form

Yay, what ever little code gremlin was interfering  with my Ravelry usage has been fixed! Crochet be praised! Now we can get back to our regularly scheduled programming of showing off the work of the nominees. Now, I knew I couldn’t get through all of the categories before the voting ends on Monday, March 22; however that will not stop me from posting information about the various categories.

And I have a thought for next year, I will have two new categories, so please remind me, or I’ll remember to just put them in the Nominations group ahead of time. I’m going to split pattern books into “Compilations” and “By an individual” because really they are different animals entirely.  I am also going to have a category for the best non-pattern based design…I haven’t come up with the name, but as you all know many of us who crochet DO NOT USE patterns, and it’s not all free forming, some of us just go “Commando” in our crochet and do without patterns. I think those people should be applauded too…so, that’s for the 2011 Awards 🙂

Also, another quick note, any one may suggest nominations for next year, but I think I will be creating a nominating committee as well, because frankly we could have had a LOT more participation in the nominations (some people were very diligent however!), so once the committee is formed I will post about it here on the blog and you can suggest your nominations to the committee as well as on Ravelry.com. I think it will make the whole thing a lot more stream lined and I won’t have to scramble so hard next year. After all, I may have a day job then, and I will need a lot more help?

Day job? What is this about a day job? LOL That’s another blog post my friends, and well I have to get an interview first, so on with the Flamies’ show!

  1. I am really enjoying your posts by category for the flamies. I hadn’t seen many of these designers before and I love their work. I am so happy there are so many crocheters!!!!

    • Thank you! I’m so glad to hear this! One of the reasons we do the Flamies is to give a wider exposure to those who make our wonderful patterns as well as to showcase how beautiful crochet really is!

  2. Did you notice if there was an errata or not for the aphrodite shawl?
