News and more on Drape Competition!

First Iwould love to share the great news that Mary Beth Temple’s Hooked for LIfe is going into it’s second printing! Hah, we kept saying the crocheters could read! Congratulatoins to Mary Beth Temple on that brilliant good news, and I have to admit that after the review here on the CLF Blog; I have read and read the book at least five times 🙂 Love it!

I WANT MORE LIKE THIS!

By the way, it’s Monday and that means Mary Beth Temple’s LIVE podcast happens at 9pm Eastern/6 Pacific at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/mary-beth-temple! Don’t miss her show!

And more information about the competition!

Someone posed this thought/question “Is it not unfair to have lace entered or open work because they automatically drape?”

Nope. It’s not unfair, and one reason is that they do not always automatically drape. I make lace so tight I don’t need starch. And, if you use worsted weight yarn and a g hook you get stiff no matter what, you may end up with a “drapier” fabric that way, but it will not necessarily produce drape.

We want every kind of drape you can think of in crochet: Solid fabric, open work, lace, swatches of all of those…what ever. Send in your photos PLEASE!

The more PROOF we have the better, and I promise a WHOLE BLOG PAGE to the results!

Remember the competition ends August 9th! I want pictures!

Back from Vacation and to work….egads…

Hey there folks…

Ok, I’m still sick, but finally recovering. Had a great vacation, I even got to crochet! WHOOT! And as I wait for the PDF to finish distilling I will be uploading the revised book, with all the necessary changes. Hopefully tomorrow AM our beloved Technogoddess will upload the new version of the book cover…which should me a better thumbnail on Amazon.com….YAY…

Some of the very nifty changes that we made since we were redoing things anyway was to include page numbers…They would have been in the first version but unfortunately my computer was not cooperating, and I was stressed and tired and opted to live without it versus killing my laptop.

In a more relaxed frame of mine I have included these things so that they actually show on each page (long story), and now have a table of contents that reflect the page numbers (time consuming by worth it)…Also, Carol Ventura granted permission to flip the skull chart for the Tapestry Crochet UFO Bag so that lefties don’t have to flip the chart in a mirror! YAY…I’ll try to get that posted on the errata page tonight for you wonderful lefties who already purchased the book!

So hopefully in a day or so I can approve the book to be a go again, and we’ll be on our way to Crochet History!

International Crochet Day: September 12

ATTENTION ALL CROCHET ENTHUSIASTS!! Are you READY!?

Beloved master hook enabler and hooksmith Jimbo (of jimbosfrontporch.blogspot.com fame) decreed Sept. 12th of each year to be International Crochet Day!

How are you going to honor this illustrious day of crocheting goodness?

Here are some ideas Jimbo has offered on the CLF Message Board:

  • Crochet in public
  • Teach someone to crochet
  • promote Internatinal Crochet day in your blog

Other members have said they shall parade the streets of where they live festooned in crocheted lovliness!

What is Fearless Leader doing for International Crochet Day?

HAH! I am in Portland from the Knit and Crochet Show (I know it should be Crochet and Knit show but you know….one day we shall over come such sad titles of events)…

Come by booth 514 at the Oregon Convention Center to liberate your hooks!! We’ll crochet loud and proud (or quietly with elegant ease…either way works)…

Thank you to our dearest Jimbo, hook maker extraordinare!! In fact he is one Hookalicious Dude…and I now honor him with the Hookalicious Award for outstanding, bodacious, awesome hook enabling!! Congrats Jimbo!!
