The Complete List of Winners: The Flamies

Ok, I know I KNOW you were clamoring for the list, and the winners are CLAMORING for their awards. Tuesday was a really long day and well…YAY the list is here now!

I decided to make an Annual Crochet Award section on the CLF Website, so please go HERE to find the complete list of winners. I will have a list made for last year too, and in future you can check on the Crochet Liberation Front Website for lists of nominees and winners as we move this award into a more “real” state.

I have to apologize, once again a light hearted jaunt has turned into something apparently quite real and recognized. I’m often the last to figure that out, but luckily good friends are happy to remind me to get my act together and take it seriously!

Winners I will be contacting you with the link to your graphics for your websites etc tomorrow!

Once again a huge thank you to Mary Beth Temple of Getting Loopy, Darlisa Riggs of Crochet Uncut, all of the listeners and lastly but certainly not least, the winners of the awards for showing up full of enthusiasm and grace. It was a wonderful show, and if you didn’t get a chance to tune in you can download the episode from the Getting Loopy site or iTunes!

2nd Annual Crochet Awards Tonight!!

Don’t miss out, and you’ll find out who I’ve awarded the Fearless Leader Award and who won the Flaming Hook of Justice award!!

So don’t forget, TONIGHT at 9-11 Eastern/6-9pm Pacific the 2010 Crochet Awards are LIVE on Getting Loopy!!

Huge thanks to Darlisa Riggs of Crochet Uncut for her most beautiful 3-D design work on the Flamie Award this year! It’s gorgeous!

CLF Happenings…

The CLF Message board is a very busy place, sometimes it’s dizzyingly busy! But recently we’ve had several topics come up that are quite interesting.

The first of note is a discussion about standards in crochet, and there are some out in the world floating around, but nothing really staunch. And well, maybe it’s a good thing, and maybe it’s not. What is a great thing is the wonderfully mature discussion happening about the subject. I invite you to weigh in on the topic here in this thread 😉

Also interesting was some folks asking where to get things with the CLF logo, a button, bumper stitcker, stickers or something! Well we do have something available in our Zazzle storefront, so if you want to brandish your CLF pride, go to our store and grab something 😉 I don’t promote that as much as I should, but mostly cause I don’t want to irritate you all with it!

Also, are you interested in being part of the 2011 Flamies nominating committee? I will be posting more information in the coming weeks, but think about it! I will have some criteria created and we’ll accept nominations on the CLF board as per normal, and then we’ll make make our final decisions 😉 This whole Flamie thing is kind of a big deal now, one more fun idea that took off! Never ceases to amaze me 😉

CLF NEWS:2010 Crochet Awards Nominees for Best Designer, Free Form

Yay, what ever little code gremlin was interfering  with my Ravelry usage has been fixed! Crochet be praised! Now we can get back to our regularly scheduled programming of showing off the work of the nominees. Now, I knew I couldn’t get through all of the categories before the voting ends on Monday, March 22; however that will not stop me from posting information about the various categories.

And I have a thought for next year, I will have two new categories, so please remind me, or I’ll remember to just put them in the Nominations group ahead of time. I’m going to split pattern books into “Compilations” and “By an individual” because really they are different animals entirely.  I am also going to have a category for the best non-pattern based design…I haven’t come up with the name, but as you all know many of us who crochet DO NOT USE patterns, and it’s not all free forming, some of us just go “Commando” in our crochet and do without patterns. I think those people should be applauded too…so, that’s for the 2011 Awards 🙂

Also, another quick note, any one may suggest nominations for next year, but I think I will be creating a nominating committee as well, because frankly we could have had a LOT more participation in the nominations (some people were very diligent however!), so once the committee is formed I will post about it here on the blog and you can suggest your nominations to the committee as well as on Ravelry.com. I think it will make the whole thing a lot more stream lined and I won’t have to scramble so hard next year. After all, I may have a day job then, and I will need a lot more help?

Day job? What is this about a day job? LOL That’s another blog post my friends, and well I have to get an interview first, so on with the Flamies’ show!

The nominees for Best Designer: Free Form are: (Please note these photos are merely a single representation of the designer’s work.)

CLF NEWS: 2010 Crochet Award Nominees for Best Designer (Accessories)

Voting has begun with a bang! It’s so much fun to watch the voting from my end of the internet, in fact there are some very close races between brands and designers, it will be interesting to see how it all pans out! You can make your vote count by going to http://www.surveymonkey.com/2010Flamies !

In the mean time enjoy some more pretty pictures of examples of designers work! Now, I will remind you that these are just one photo each are not representative of the designers entire work! So to see more go to their pages on Ravelry.com or browse the internet.

Also, if there is someone you want to see nominated next year that wasn’t this year, make sure you join the CLF and make your nominations for next year’s awards! Nominations are taken through out the year from Crochet Liberation Front members and then the voting is made open to the public. There’s no grumbling allowed, you like a design or a designer than nominate them. It doesn’t have to be anyone well known, especially since this industry is made of so many people and many talents go unsung, so go for it in the future, make your favorites known in time for the nominations!

These are the nominees for Best Designer (Accessories)

Jennifer Bensen nominated for her collection of shawls and scarves

Eclat Du Soleil nominated for her collection of shawls

Danielle Kassner for her collection of wristlets, mittens and socks

Kristin Omdahl for her collection of wraps & shawls

Drew Emborsky for his collection of handbags & hats

Linda Permann for her collection of accessories and jewelry

Remember these awards are not paid for by yarn companies, publications or other industry insiders, the CLF foots the bill, so please stop by our website order a T-shirt or bumper sticker, get your copy of the ground breaking CLF First Ever Book or better yet, sign up for our retreat! You can do this at http://www.crochetliberationfront.com!

CLF NEWS: The Flamies

Ok, I’m working on them, I really am! Between getting the retreat website up and running, and entering the Flamies into the survey (line by line….line by line), trying to ensure everyone’s name is spelled correctly, and their Ravelry ID’s are correct…It’s crazy time 😉

So, here’s what you want to know: Voting starts on next Monday  Today March 11! (I got everything done faster than I thought!), it will last for ONE WEEK. Please keep your eyeballs peeled to this blog for the links. I will also release it on Twitter, AND Ms. Mary Beth Temple has been kind enough to be our Hostess with the Mostest over on Getting Loopy! So tune in to listen to her show every Monday, and be prepared for the Flamie Awards to happen on April 19, 2010 on her show. It ain’t the Oscar’s but it’s entertaining!

The one thing I can tell you. My Fearless Leader Award has a winner. They don’t know yet either, but they will soon. I made that decision two weeks ago when I was wondering upon who’s shoulders I would bestow the most coveted of crochet accolades…You’ll ahve to wait and see 😉
