Holiday Crochet: Gifts for Dogs & Dog Lovers

OK, this hot dog coat is too much fun! It was designed by K.J. Hay for Caron International and I fell in love with it the first time I saw it! In fact a good friend of mine, who just happens to own “Sammi the Sausage” a wonderful daschund, has demanded I send her link so she can make her stylin’ poochy more stylin.

Well, what better gift can you think of for the dog that has it all?!

You can think of others? Me too and I’ll be searching the project pages for more dog and cat paraphenalia!

All Shawl in Boucle

Doris Chan’s All Shawl has quickly become a crochet classic. I can’t count the wonderful examples of this I have seen at conventions, and even in local yarn stores!!

What’s really great is that it’s a free download for a brilliant Doris Chan design! You can download the pattern on Ravelry.com!!

This is on my Christmas Project list for my sister in law (my husband’s brother’s wife), who sadly also lost her father this month. Sometimes it takes more than a comfortghan, and this is sadly one of those occasions. However, I can think of nothing more comforting than having a Doris Chan design around your shoulders, especially one made with love!

Broomstick lace is one of my favorite techniques because it can be so very visually appealing. It’s not a difficult technique to master, and once you get your feel for it, you can whip out stunning projects that have delicate and airy feel, and yet a real solid integrity!

I love what Figpox did in chosing the colors of the yarn, and the content absolutely is a perfect choice for this kind of construction!

Congratulations Figpox, you are a winner! Consider yourself awarded the Set My Picot Free Award for outstanding crochet composition!

Summery, and hookalicious!

I love making soap savers, and they are one of those satisfyingly quick, useful, and welcome projects in the heat of summer!

Congrats to CLF Member dbknfivec (Kathy North) for earning a Hookalicious Award! Why? For a soap saver? Because, I am in love with the design, and making something useful AND pretty.

I get requests for these puppies from family, and friends at birthdays and holidays. In fact, I recently crocheted up a quickie for my son’s 13th birthday, because the night before he asked sheepishly if I could crochet him a birthday present. Sure, it was 11pm, sure I was tired, but when your almost teenage son requests a crocheted present? And he loved his very masculine version of a soap saver.

So, Kathy, YOU WIN! Because I am biased, and love these kinds of projects! And that photo is lovely!

If you have never made soap savers, check out Kathy’s pattern for this very wonderful award winning bag!
